Moomba Parade

Put together the autumn weather festival with Labour Day celebrations in Melbourne, and then ask any Melburnian what it means? Only one name emerges in the collective recollection of all those who love to party: Moomba. For the past 60 years, Moomba Festival has been celebrated with great enthusiasm making it the largest community festival of Victoria.

Renowned for crowning the ‘Moomba King and Queen’, Monday street parade, Birdman Rally on the Yarra River, carnival in Alexandra Gardens and nightly fireworks, the 2016 Moomba festival has been scheduled from 11 March to 14 March.

This year, Wadaiko Rindo is performing a concert on The Green at Birrarung Marr at 7.30pm on all three nights of the long weekend (Saturday, Sunday and Monday). ROC (Rindo Okedo Club) will also be taking part in the parade this year which kicks off at 8am on Monday 14th. Come down to the city centre and join in the fun, or else catch us on the live coverage on television on the day of the parade!
